247 Titans vs Super Giants review

The 2022 IPL continued to excite and provide a number of exciting moments when the Gujarati Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants met on May 10.

Indeed, these two franchises are considered among the best in this year’s competition, with both sides having had blistering campaigns and looking likely to make the playoffs as they compete for the title. It has also been argued that both sides have the strongest teams in the tournament, too, with both being very experienced and rather balanced according to Vwin’s predictions in regard to the lineups that they can boast.

Therefore, it was hardly a surprise that so many fans worldwide had tuned into the 57th game of the 74 matches to be played in this year’s event, although there will have been one set of fans that would have been a lot happier than the other set.

As we know, the Gujarati Titans were able to dominate the fixture, as they ended up winning by a vast 62 runs, thus further solidifying their place at the top of the 2022 IPL table and continuing to look like the best team in the league by a country mile.

The Titans had managed to post 144-4 in their 20 allotted overs, thus giving them a score that many would have thought was rather defendable at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on May 10.

Shubman Gill starred with the bat as he knocked 63* from his 49 balls – thus effectively sealing the win for Gujarati. He was helped at the crease by descent knocks from David Miller (26 from 24) and Rahul Tewatia (22* from 16), too.

However, with the strength of the squad that the Lucknow Super Giants have available to them, there would have been some that would have felt that they would be able to challenge and be extremely competitive whilst at the wicket. Indeed, with players like Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul, and Marcus Stoinis on the team as specialized limited-overs stars, many of us would have expected more of a fight.

The Super Giants were lackluster in their run chase and managed to score a paltry 82 from their 13.5 overs before each of their players was skittled out by the exceptional bowling attack of the Titans.

Things started badly for them, as they lost both De Kock and Rahul inside the first five overs with just 24 runs on the board. They then saw wickets tumble at a regular and rather consistent pace that was difficult for the Super Giants to halt. 

Only three players managed to reach double figures in regards to runs on the scoreboard, with Deepak Hooda the only player offering any resistance to the bowling attack as he scored 27 from 26 balls. De Kock hit 11 from 10, whilst Avesh Khan went into slogging mode as he recorded two sixes as the final batter as he scored 12 from 4 balls.

There has been a lot of cricket since these two sides met on May 10, but with both sides looking very likely to be in the 2022 IPL playoffs, the Super Giants might want to see if they can avoid the Titans in the knockout phase.

Ireland to host India and New Zealand on summer tours

The ICC’s Future Tour Programmes (FTP) are fast approaching with the first matches set to start in a month. Ireland will be hosting India and New Zealand for a series of T20 and ODI matches.

The T20 tours are short cricket matches. During a T20 match, each team is only allowed 20 overs. A single over includes six deliveries from the fielding team to the other team’s batsman.

This summer’s T20 tours are T20I or Twenty20 International. The rules are the same but the teams competing are international members of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The ODI or One Day International matches are longer cricket matches. Each team is allowed to bat 50 overs.

This summer’s season will start with T20 cricket matches.

When are the matches set to take place ?

Ireland will face India for two rounds of T20 matches. The first one is set to take place on the 26th of June and the second one on the 28th of June.

After that, Ireland will face New Zealand for three sets of T20 matches. You can watch the first one on the 18th of July, the second one on the 20th of July and the third on the 22nd of July.

As for the ODI tours, they will kick off on the 10th of July with Ireland competing against New Zealand. Both teams will play against each other again on the 12th of July and the 15th of July.

Who is likely to win ?

In total, there are thirteen cricket matches scheduled to take place in Ireland over the summer. The Irish team is expected to perform well but there is a chance New Zealand maybe too good for the Irish.

New Zealand are currently ranked number one in the world for the ODI format cricket matches.

In 2021, New Zealand also came in 2nd place at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This year, they could win both the T20 and the ODI summer tours. 

The Indian team are also a serious competitor. During their last visit to Ireland in 2018, they won 2-0 (T20) against Cricket Ireland.

This summer, the Indian team could secure another victory against Ireland during the T20 tours.

Despite these past losses, Ireland might still win this year’s tournaments. The Ireland Cricket Team does remain one of the best cricket playing nations in the world.

These summer tours come after a long four year wait for Irish fans. In a month, they will finally have the opportunity to watch Ireland compete at home.

These summer’s tours will help determine who the next ICC World Test Championship’s finalists will be. A couple of victories could help Ireland climb up the International Cricket Council’s rankings.

ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 in the United States

Cricket fans in the United States are ecstatic with the recent announcement that ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 is returning to American soil for the first time since the covid-19 pandemic postponed the schedule. After a three-year-long absence from the USA, a consecutive tri-series begins on May 28^th and will end on June 15^th, 2022.

With high-quality grass wickets and a location that can deliver the ideal support for both series, the Moosa Stadium in Houston has been named the official ODI venue. The United States-based venue is awaiting a finalized ICC authorization, but there aren’t any hiccups that should prevent the go-ahead.

As the inaugural all-natural turf cricket facility in Texas, the stadium has received multiple renovations and is now one of the best grounds in the United States. The Moosa Stadium is the second ODI location in the United States next to Lauderhill, Florida, and came before fellow candidates Prairie View Cricket Complex in Texas and Church Street Park in North Carolina.

The MLC National Cricket Centre at Prairie View Cricket Complex in Texas will be the second ground of importance; the complex will equip the international teams in Texas with a fixed location for warm-up games and training days.

A completed calendar for both ICC series has been released. The opening tri-series will involve the USA facing Scotland and the UAE between May 28th – and June 4^th, as each team will compete against each other on two occasions. With a ramped-up schedule, the USA will get back onto the grass four days later as they’ll face the league leaders Oman and Nepal from June 8^th – to June 15^th with the same layout and number of meetings.
