IPL 2019: Rishabh Pant takes a playful jibe at ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni

Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni

Though the 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is about a month away, the first look of the much-awaited T20 campaign is out.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who had an exceptional IPL last year and has been a consistent part of the Indian cricket team through the 2018-19 season, is seen taking a playful jibe at his senior, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

“Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) is like a guru.

“Who knows whether I’d be a wicketkeeper-batsman if Mahi bhai wasn’t there.”

That’s the meek beginning of an otherwise feisty video featuring Pant, sending a message out to ‘Captain Cool’.

“Iss baari main unki team pe aise barsoonga, ki captain cool, cool nahi rahenge,” (This time I’m going to come down so heavily on his team, that captain cool will no longer be cool), a cheeky Pant goes on to say in the TV commercial.

The 2019 edition of VIVO IPL is scheduled to start from March 23.

Twitter Reactions: Hazratullah Zazai powers Afghanistan to a world record T20I score of 278-3 against Ireland

Afghanistan smashed a record T20I score of 278-3 against Ireland as Hazratullah Zazai blasted 162 not-out off 62 balls at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun on Saturday.

Hazratullah smoked 11 fours and 16 sixes in his innings as he shared the highest stand for any wicket in a 20-over game with opening partner Usman Ghani (73 off 48 balls) as they together put on 236 for the first wicket.

Mohammad Nabi then struck consecutive sixes in the final over to take Afghanistan to go past Australia’s previous record total of 263-3, against Sri Lanka in 2016.

Hazratullah, who hit the most sixes in an individual T20I inning and joint third-highest individual T20I score, got a life after being dropped by George Dockrell at the deep point on 72. He later went on to complete his maiden century for Afghanistan off just 42 deliveries.
