India and Pakistan locked horns in the fifth match of the ongoing Asia Cup on Wednesday. However, the encounter turned out to be a one-sided affair as Rohit Sharma led Team India thumped Sarfraz Ahmed & Co. by eight wickets.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, most of the tactics backbired for Pakistan.
Opening batsmen Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq perished early courtesy of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s discipline bowling.
Thereafter, Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik tried to restore sanity back into the innings with an 82-run partnership. Nevertheless, Kuldeep Yadav ran through Babar’s defence to break the ominous-looking stand. Kedar Jadhav was introduced after the 20th over and he didn’t disappoint. He got rid of Sarfraz, Shadab Khan and Asif Ali to rip through their middle-order.
Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Amir added 37 runs for the eighth wicket to lift Team Green up to 162 runs in 43.1 overs.
