The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the 12th season is back to enthrall cricket fans across the world. In total, 351 cricketers, including 226 Indians will go under the hammer in this IPL season.
The venue is new with the Pink City hosting the event instead of Bangalore and so is the auctioneer, Hugh Edmeades, who replaced Richard Madley after 11 seasons.
Basic rules for the auction:
Franchises will make their picks from the auction pool comprising of 351 players. The minimum squad size has to be 18 and a maximum of 25.
Every franchise will have a purse of Rs 2 crore in addition to the balance kitty from the previous auction. It is mandatory that every franchise spends a minimum Rs 61.5 crores out of their total purse of Rs 82 crores.
