Cricket Australia (CA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have both reportedly informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that their players won’t be available in the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after May 1.
The decision has been taken in view of the ICC Cricket World Cup which begins on May 31 in England, prior to which all the national teams will be holding extensive training and preparation camps.
Meanwhile, the BCCI or the IPL governing council has not made any official announcement regarding the availability of international players. However, a Mumbai Mirror report published on Tuesday said that franchises have been informed about the same unofficially.
The report also said there has been no update from other cricket boards about the availability of their players, but added that the South African men could leave the tournament after May 12, which means they would miss the playoffs and final.
The report further added that the exact position of all cricket boards would be clear by the time the IPL player auction is held in December.
