IPL 2019: Royal Challengers Bangalore retains 14 players, releases 10

RCB IPL

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of those teams which hasn’t won the IPL title despite having world-class players in the line-up.

Captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, two superstars of the game, are at the helm of the side and no wonder the franchise is totally dependent on the duo. However, for the next season, RCB have made big changes to their squad by releasing 3 overseas players.

On Thursday, the team management decided to let go of Brendon McCullum, Corey Anderson and Chris Woakes who are match-winner on their day. The Bangalore-based franchise has also released Sarfraz Khan having retained him surprisingly last year.

With the current set-up, the team looks thin on batting yet again and they will be surely looking to strengthen themselves in that aspect during the players’ auction in mid-December.

Here’s the list of the retained and released players by the RCB:

Retained: Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Parthiv Patel, Washington Sundar, Pawan Negi, Moeen Ali, Colin de Grandhomme, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Kulwant Khejroliya, Nathan Coulter-Nile

Released: Corey Anderson, Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes, Sarfraz Khan, Quinton de Kock, Aniket Choudhary, Anirudha Joshi, Murugan Ashwin, Manan Vohra, Pavan Deshpande, Mandeep Singh (traded for Marcus Stoinis)
