IPL 2019: Sridharan Sriram replaces Venkatesh Prasad at Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab

A day after Virender Sehwag announced that he has quit as the mentor and head of cricket operations at Kings XI Punjab, now Venkatesh Prasad has also left his position at the franchise.

Prasad will be replaced by ex-India cricketer Sridharan Sriram, who was the assistant coach at the Delhi Daredevils, and the spin bowling coach of Australia.

KXIP earlier replaced Brad Hodge with Mike Hesson as their head coach. Hesson was the coach of New Zealand.

The Preity Zinta co-owned team has also roped in Prasanna Agoram, the Technical Strategy Analyst at Cricket South Africa (CSA), as their high-performance coach. Agoram played a huge role in South Africa’s transition to becoming one of the toughest teams to beat in international cricket.

The likes of Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis, Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, and Dale Steyn have all credited Agoram as the brain behind the Proteas’ successful run.

Led by India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, KXIP had a brilliant start to the IPL 11 this year as they won five of their first seven matches. However, they faltered and lost six out of the last seven matches to crash out of the tournament.
