Virat-Kohli

India captain Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to reach 10,000 one-day international runs against West Indies in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

Kohli achieved the feat in his 205th ODI innings, surpassing India legend Sachin Tendulkar, who did it in his 259th innings in 2001.

The 29-year-old reached to 10,000 run-mark with a single off spinner Ashley Nurse in his 213th ODI. He is overall the 13th batsman to reach the milestone and the fifth Indian.

Kohli’s historic achievement was part of his 37th ODI ton as he made an unbeaten 157 off 129 deliveries in India’s total of 321/6 from 50 overs.

Kohli still has some way to go to break Tendulkar’s all-time ODI run record however, with the former India skipper having made 18,426 runs before his retirement from the format in 2012.

The Indian skipper is also the fastest in terms of time taken to score the runs as he reached the milestone in 10 years and 67 days. Sachin Tendulkar had taken 11 years and 103 days while Rahul Dravid was fastest before Kohli reaching the mark in 10 years and 317 days.
